Childcare support

Help with the cost

Hackney Tuition Centre is an Ofsted-registered childcare provider (RP903394), so eligible working families can use government schemes towards our fees.

Tax-Free Childcare

For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the government adds £2 — up to £2,000 a year per child (£4,000 if your child is disabled).

  • Usually for working parents
  • Children aged 11 or under (16 or under if disabled)
  • We’re signed up as a provider — pay us straight from your childcare account

Universal Credit childcare

If you’re working and on Universal Credit, you can claim back up to 85% of eligible childcare costs, up to £1,071.09 a month for one child or £1,836.16 for two or more.

  • You pay first, then report the cost to claim it back — report promptly
  • Available until 31 August after your child’s 16th birthday
  • You may be asked for our name, address and Ofsted number
Which scheme? You can’t use Tax-Free Childcare and Universal Credit childcare for the same child, so it’s worth comparing. The government’s childcare calculator shows which suits you. Eligibility depends on your circumstances. Childcare vouchers and tax credits are closed to new claims.
